Technical skills? Hip-hop? Top 40? All of the above. DJ Paradime, celebrity party favorite, gained his motivation to start deejaying hip-hop in high school.
“There were emcees and breakers… but I wasn’t very good at either of those. My graffiti wasn’t the best either.” Good thing DJ Paradime, born David Ngo, was talented in another hip-hop skill. Since there wasn’t really anybody deejaying in his North Carolina area, Paradime picked up the craft and hasn’t looked back since.
Paradime originally caught an ear for hip-hop from his older sister, who was ten years ahead of him in music. “She bought her cassette tapes and just lived in the eighties… I watched, listened, and learned from her.” When I asked how the rest of his family, coming from a Cambodian background, felt about his pursuit of his music, Paradime chuckles and says, “They just know that my job is legal and payin the bills.”
We know a little bit more about the accredited DJ Paradime. The all star DJ can be found touring the U.S. and Canada with Hall of Justus Music Group featuring with acts such as Little Brother and The Away Team for two and a half months to remixing songs to go on new mixtapes featuring the talents of Travis Porter. Paradime prides himself on staying relevant in clubs, keeping up with new technical deejaying, spinning at both hood clubs and top 40 clubs, while still being able to rock the party.
